Halloween Competitions in the Library

Posted on: 05/11/2025

This October we launched a Halloween Short Story and Art Competition, open to all students. Teachers and Library Ambassadors were invited to cast their vote for their favourite entries on both categories. The judging panel was very pleased with the quality of the pieces presented; voting was, therefore, a horrendous task!

Entrants were invited to the library on Thursday, 23rd October at lunch break, to celebrate their shared love of creativity and horror/gothic genre and their own achievements. Dara O., 10M9 was chosen to win the writing competition with her story The Vanishing at the Halloween Party, and Maryam F., 10M9, was the most voted in the Art category. Congratulations!

All entries will be featured in December’s issue of Mayfield Voice, our Library Newsletter:

Short stories:

Dara O., 10M9: The Vanishing at the Halloween Party – Winner!

Sehajpreet K., 8M7: The reflection;

Hafsah A., 7M9: Beneath the threadbare hour;

Maroosh C., The haunted mansion.

Art:

Maryam F., 10M9 – Winner!

Madina F., 8M7.

A massive shout out to Mr Howard, for his supportive presence in all Library events, and for brightening up the occasion by performing the winning story to us all. Thank you, Mr Howard!

We are extremely proud of you all, for your hard work and dedication to this Creative Competition, and look forward to reading and enjoying your future entries in prospective Competitions.
