Post 18 Pathways

At Mayfield we understand that students will have different Career Aspirations. Although many of our students advance to Higher Education we have had students go on to some amazing Apprenticeship opportunities. Throughout their decision process we ensure that they have access to impartial advice and guidance on Post 18 opportunities available to them.

How we support our students:

  • All students have a Unifrog account, which enables them to access a range of resources on Higher Education, Apprenticeships and Studying Abroad
  • We have created an electronic ‘Careers Resource Library’ which consists of a series of fact sheets on a selection of Pathways that students may be considering
  • Tutorial lessons
  • Support during IS lessons
  • Drop in sessions with members of the Sixth Form Team
  • Meetings with our career’s advisor, Mrs Adam
  • Practice interviews

UCAS set up guide

UCAS Process: At Mayfield we start the application process in the Spring Term to ensure our students have ample time to do extensive research before making their final choices. We use an online platform, called Unifrog:

  • Start and keep a record of their research into either Higher Education/ Apprenticeships or Studying Abroad
  • Create shortlists which can rank different courses and institutions based on entry requirements
  • Complete some diagnostic testing to identify the right course or career
  • Series of live UCAS hub sessions to help students with their future plans: https://www.ucas.com/undergraduate/what-and-where-study/ucas-hub-live
