On Thursday 5^th July 2018, 14 of our more able Year 9 students took ta trip to Havering Sixth Form College in East London to take part in a Science and Technology Challenge Day.

The event is run by MCS Projects Ltd and is aimed at raising the students' enthusiasm for STEM subjects and to help encourage them to continue studying the subjects through to College/University level.

An outline of the day can be seen below.

What happens?

• Practical STEM activities based on real science and engineering scenarios 
• Activities designed to encourage planning and team work
• Awards presented by local Mayors and Queen’s representatives
• Winning teams progress to regional Finals

 

The four challenges were:

• Robotics Challenge
• Electric Vehicle Challenge
• EFIT-6 Challenge
• Diagnostics Challenge
