EU Mock Council

Posted on: 22/11/2017

On Wednesday 22nd November 2017, two of Mayfield's Year 13 students, Sacha and Ihsan, were chosen to represent Luxembourg at the EU Mock Council at the Law Society in Chancery Lane, Central London.

The day prior to the event, Mr J Piller and the two Year 13 students were able to meet with the Luxembourg Ambassador at their embassy and discussed matters such as Brexit.

On the day of the EU Mock Council event, the main topic of debate was Brexit, and in particular the focus was on Erasmus+ and citizens rights.

"It was brilliant to see the students engaged in topics which will be relevant to them in the years to come", says Mr J Piller.

Sacha went on to state that, "the opportunity to engage into the workings of Brexit, and the way in which it remoulds our political and legal world was enthralling.  The EU Mock Council merely enacted as a catalyst for my interest in debating over political affairs and being able to unravel the complexities of Politics; something of which I find spellbinding."

Ihsan goes on to describe the event as "a magnificent experience."

"The structure and professionalism of the event was signified to us from the offset. The skills which I have learnt are second to none."
