Year 10 Cricket

Posted on: 17/05/2021

Mayfield School's Year 10 cricket team played their first game in almost two years on Tuesday 11th May against Norlington School.

The opposition decided to bat first and got off to a good start, making 29 runs from the first four overs. First change bowler Ayush N. then bowled an incredible over, taking two wickets for no runs. Ayush eventually finished up with three wickets, for 14 runs from four overs. He was superbly supported by Talal H. (three wickets, for 19 runs from three overs).

Mayfield managed to bowl the opposition out for 100 runs with captain Owais Z. and Muhammad A. taking the other wickets.

Mayfield began the chase with real intent, quickly racking up 16 runs from first over. We then lost two wickets in quick succession before Muhammad A. and Abdullah S., both year 8’s, guided the team to victory with a 90+ run partnership.

The team now move onto the quarter finals, where they will play against Westminster School.

Well done to all of the squad who have trained tirelessly over the past two years!
