Redbridge Youth Election

Posted on: 07/02/2020

R. Tinca Youth ElectionOn Friday 07th February 2020, Mayfield held an assembly on the upcoming Redbridge Youth Election. One of Mayfield's Year 8 students, Raul, (pictured right) is a candidate for the Youth Council.

Raul's Manifesto.

  • I plan to create a workshop that will raise awareness of bullying while promoting self-confidence
  • I aim to create a workshop to raise awareness of the impact of discrimination
  • I propose to create a Youth Environment Team to promote cleaner areas around schools

I aim to create workshops that will raise awareness of bullying within schools to promote self-confidence amongst affected young people.  Through my contact with Kidscape I will use their reliable expertise to develop a young people lead campaign looking at school policies and how they work.

I aim to create a workshop that will raise awareness of all types of discrimination and help people to feel comfortable in their own skin.  This event will be young people lead and will be recommended to all Redbridge schools.  I will research to find an appropriate charity to support me with this work.

I will aim to create a Youth Environmental Team that will promote cleaner areas around schools to teach young people the effects of littering around our borough.  This will consist of a student group (in each school) that will go on the streets to show how much we care about our environment and to show people how much time common litter takes to decay (as shoe in the litter pick by the GREY team).  They will also need to do assemblies around their school and talking about recycling etc.
